tell me about it = ေျပာကိုမေျပာခ်င္ပါဘူးဗ်ာ။, ေအးဗ်ာ ေျပာစမ္းပါရေစ။
tell it like it is = ရွင္းရွင္းပဲေျပာပါရေစ။ အရွိကိုအရွိတိုင္း ေျပာခ်င္တာကေတာ့။

Hey, tell me about it. First, Susie’s wedding grown caught fire at the dress-maker. Then, my best man Tom fell and broke his ankle. I’m going crazy trying to find somebody to take his place.ေျပာကိုမေျပာခ်င္ပါဘူးဗ်ာ။ ပထမဦးဆံုး ျဖစ္ပံုကေတာ့ Susie ရဲ ႔ မဂၤလာေဆာင္ဝတ္စံုက ခ်ဳပ္ေနတဲ့ဆိုင္မွာ မီးေလာင္းသြားတယ္။ အဲဒီေနာက္ က်ေနာ္သတိုးသား အရံ Tom လိမ့္က်ၿပီး ေျခခ်င္းဝတ္ က်ဳိးသြားတယ္။ က်ေနာ္ သူ႔အစား လူပ်ဳိးရံ ရွာဖို႔က ဦးေဏွာက္ ေျခာက္စရာ ျဖစ္ေနတယ္။

Yeah, tell me about it. This guy drinks, gambles, and spends money like water, but he’s sure a way with women. I’m worried she ends up really getting hurt by this guy.ေအးဗ်ာ ေျပာစမ္းပါရေစ။ ဒီေမာင္က အရက္ေသာက္တယ္၊ ေလာင္းကစားလုပ္တယ္၊ ၿပီးေတာ့ ေငြကို ေရလိုသံုးတယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ သူက မိန္းမေတြ အေၾကာေကာင္းေကာင္းသိတယ္။ ဒီေမာင္ေၾကာင့္ အမ်ဳိးသမီး တကယ္ဒုကၡေရာက္မွာကို က်ေနာ္စိတ္ပူပန္မိတယ္။

To tell you like it is. I think you are the most selfish person on earth. You know why. You don’t care about our marriage. You don’t share any interest with me. All you care about is your own career.ရွင္းရွင္းပဲေျပာပါရေစ။ မင္းဟာ ကမာၻေပၚမွာ တကိုယ္ေကာင္းအဆန္ဆံုးလူလို႔ ကိုယ္ထင္တယ္။ ဘာလို႔လဲသိလား။ မင္းဟာ ကိုယ္တို႔ အိမ္ေထာင္ေရးကို နည္းနည္းမွ ဂရုမစိုက္ဘူး။ စိတ္ဝင္စားမႈလည္း ဘာမွမရွိဘူး။ မင္းဂရုစိုက္တာကေတာ့ မင္းရဲ ႔ဘဝ တိုးတက္ေရးအတြက္ မင္းအလုပ္အကိုင္ပဲျဖစ္တယ္။

Sir, you drop another 20 percent in the opinion poll. I tell it like it is. Voters are fed up with your silence on gun control and health care. If you don’t say something quick, I’m afraid this time they vote you right out of office.လူႀကီးမင္းခင္မ်ား။ လူထုစစ္တမ္းေကာက္ခံရမွာ ေထာက္ခံမႈ ေနာက္ထပ္ (၂၀) ရာခိုင္ႏႈန္း က်ဆင္းသြားျပန္ၿပီ။ အရွိကိုအရွိတိုင္း ေျပာခ်င္တာကေတာ့ လူႀကီးမင္းက ေသနတ္ထိန္းခ်ဳပ္မႈအျပင္ က်န္းမာေရးျပဳစု ေစာင့္ေရွာက္မႈတို႔မွာ ႏူတ္ငံုတိတ္ဆိတ္ေနတာနဲ႔ ပတ္သက္လို႔ မဲဆႏၵရွင္ေတြက စိတ္ပ်က္ေနၾကတယ္။ တခုခုကို အျမန္မလုပ္ရင္ ဒီတႀကိမ္ ေရြးေကာက္ပြဲမွာ အရႈံးနဲ႔ေတြ႕ရလိမ့္မယ္။

FAIR : fair and square, fair shake, fair game, fair haired boy

fair and square = မွန္မွန္ကန္ကန္ သန္႔သန္႔ရွင္းရွင္း၊ တရားမွ်မွ်တတ ျဖစ္တာကို
fair shake = လူတိုင္းကို အညီအမွ် အခြင့္အေရးေပးတာပါ
fair game = ပစ္ခတ္တိုက္ခိုက္ ပိုင္ခြင့္ရွိတာပါ (Fair=လုပ္ပိုင္ခြင့္, Game=ေတာလိုက္သားေကာင္)
fair haired boy = ေပးျခင္းခံရသူ၊ အေရးေပးျခင္း ခံရသူ၊ ဖူးဖူးမႈတ္ခံရသူ (Fair= ျဖဴသည္၊ ေရႊဝါေရာင္၊ ေျပာင္းဖူးအေမႊးေရာင္ ထသည္)

“When I buy a new car, I buy it from Bill Green. He is always fair and square with customers. So, you can depend on him to give you a fair shake when it comes to getting a good price.”“က်မ ကားသစ္ဝယ္တယ့္အခါ Bill Green ဆီက ဝယ္ပါတယ္။ အၿမဲပဲ သူက ဝယ္သူေတြအေပၚ မွန္မွန္ကန္ကန္ ဆက္ဆံပါတယ္။ ဒါေၾကာင့္ ေစ်းမွန္မွန္ကန္ကန္နဲ႔ ဝယ္ယူခ်င္ရင္ သူဆီမွာ ေစ်းမွန္မယ္ဆုိတာကေတာ့ စိတ္ခ်ရပါတယ္။”

“Politics is a tougher business now than used to be. These days a candidate is fair game for the press. They’re poking to every corner of his past life to see what scandal they can dig out.”“ႏိုင္ငံေရးဟာ အခုဆိုရင္ အရင္ကထက္ ပိုၿပီးခက္ခဲ ၾကမ္းတမ္းလာၿပီ။ ဒီေခတ္ဒီအခါမွာေတာ့ ကုိယ္စားလွယ္ေလာင္းတဦးဟာ သတင္းစာနယ္ဇင္း ေလာကရဲ ႔ သားေကာင္ဘဝ ေရာက္ေနေတာ့တယ္။ သူတုိ႔ေတြက အဲဒီ ပုဂၢိဳလ္ရဲ ႔ ေနာက္ေၾကာင္းဟာ ဘယ္လိုနံမည္ပ်က္ အရႈပ္ေတာ္ပံုေတြ ရွိသလဲဆုိတာကို သိလုိၾကတဲ့အတြက္ ေခ်ာင္ႀကိဳေခ်ာင္ၾကား မက်န္ ရွာေဖြၾကေတာ့တယ္။”

“Larry is the teacher’s fair haired boy in our English class. He pretends to her face that she is the best teacher he has ever had, but he said nothing, but nasty things behind her back.”“Larry ဟာ က်မတို႔ အဂၤလိပ္စာအတန္းမွာ ဆရာမရဲ ႔ အသဲေက်ာ္ ျဖစ္တယ္။ သူက ဆရာမေရွ ႔မွာဆုိ ဆရာမက သူသင္ခဲ့ဘူးတဲ့ ဆရာ၊ ဆရာမေတြထဲမွာ အေကာင္းဆံုးလို႔ ဟန္လုပ္ၿပီး ေျပာဆိုတယ္။ ဆရာမ ေနာက္ကြယ္မွာေတာ့ ဆရာမအေၾကာင္း ေကာင္းတာတခုမွ မေျပာဘူး။”

LUNCH : a free lunch, power lunch, hand somebody his lunch, out to lunch

a free lunch = အလကားစားရတာပါ
power lunch = အေရးပါ၊ တန္ခုိးအာဏာရွိတဲ့ အထက္အရာ ပုဂၢိဳလ္ေတြက အတူတူ စားၾကေသာက္ၾကတာပါ
to hand somebody his lunch =  အားကစားၿပိဳင္ပြဲတခုမွာ ယွဥ္ၿပိဳင္သူကုိ အႏုိင္ရရွိလုိက္ျခင္းပါ
out to lunch = အဓိပၸါယ္ကေတာ့ သတိေမ့လြယ္တဲ့ အက်င့္ရွိလုိ႔ ဗလုံးဗေထြးျဖစ္ေနတဲ့အတြက္ေၾကာင့္ လက္ေတြ႔ဘဝနဲ႔ ကင္းကြာေနတဲ့အေျခအေနကုိ ေရာက္ေနတဲ့ ေၾကာင္ေတာင္ေတာင္ ျဖစ္ေနတာပါ

There is no such thing as a free lunch. အလကားေကြ်းမဲ့ ေန႔လည္စာမ်ဳိး ဘယ္ေတာ့မွ မရွိဘူး.

“I’ve never let lobbyists buy me lunch, or do any favour for me. Early in my political career, I learned the truth as the old saying there is no such thing as a free lunch.””က်ေနာ္အေနနဲ႔ လာၿပီးစည္းရုံးသူေတြထံကေန ဘယ္ေတာ့မွ (ထမင္း) အလကား မစားဘူး။ သူတုိ႔ကုိလည္း က်ေနာ့္အတြက္ ဘာမွမလုပ္ခုိင္းဘူး။ က်ေနာ္ႏုိင္ငံေရး လုပ္စကတည္းက အလကားစားရတာ ဘယ္မွာမွမရွိဘူးဆုိတဲ့ ဆုိရုိးစကားဟာ သိပ္မွန္တယ္ဆုိတာကုိ ကုိယ္ေတြ႔ သိခဲ့ရပါတယ္။”

“My brother works in a place that is very popular for power lunches. And, he gets plenty of nice big tips because these people like to show off in front of each other.””တန္ခုိးထြားသူေတြ လာစားၾကတဲ့ဆုိင္တဆုိင္မွာ က်ေနာ့္ညီက အလုပ္လုပ္တယ္။ အဲဒီမွာ ဒီလုိစားေသာက္သူေတြ ေပးတဲ့ ေဘာက္ဆူးေငြေတြလည္း အမ်ားႀကီးရတယ္။ ဘာေၾကာင့္လည္းဆုိေတာ့ ဒီလူေတြက တဦးေရွ ႔တဦး အၿပိဳင္ႂကြားခ်င္လုိ႔ ၿပိဳင္ၿပီးေပးၾကလုိ႔ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။”

“We haven’t been able to beat that school for more than ten years, but we sure handed them their lunch today. We buried them 35 to 7.””က်ေနာ္တုိ႔ ဒီေက်ာင္းကုိ အႏုိင္မရႏုိင္ခဲ့တာ ဆယ္ႏွစ္ေက်ာ္သြားၿပီ။ ဒါေပမဲ့ ဒီေန႔ေတာ့ က်ေနာ္တုိ႔ သူတုိ႔အသင္းကုိ တကယ္ပဲ ဆန္ျပဳတ္တုိက္လုိက္ၿပီ။ ၃၅ မွတ္ ၇ မွတ္နဲ႔ အျပတ္အႏုိင္ရလုိက္တယ္။”

“I am afraid it’s time for our president to retire. He is so forgetful and mix it up these days. He doesn’t know what is going on around here. In fact he has been out to lunch for years.””ေျပာရမွာေတာ့ ဝမ္းနည္းပါတယ္ က်ေနာ္တုိ႔ ဥကၠဌႀကီး အနားယူဖုိ႔ အခ်ိန္တန္ၿပီလုိ႔ ထင္ပါတယ္။ အခု ရက္ေတြအတြင္း ေမ့လုိက္တာလည္း လြန္ပါေရာ။ လုပ္ငန္းခြင္မွာ ဘာေတြျဖစ္ေနဆုိတာ သူလုံးဝ မသိေတာ့ဘူး။ တကယ္ဆုိ သူဟာ လက္ေတြ႔ဘဝနဲ႔ ကင္းကြာေနၿပီး ေၾကာင္ေတာင္ေတာင္ ျဖစ္ေနတာ ႏွစ္နဲ႔ခ်ီ ရွိေနပါၿပီ။”

BACK : backbone, backslide နဲ႔ back seat driver

Backbone = စိတ္ဓါတ္ခိုင္မာမႈ၊ သတိၱရွိမႈ
Backslide = ေခြးၿမီးေကာက္ က်ည္ေတာက္စြပ္ျခင္း ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။
Back seat driver =(မလိုအပ္ဘဲ) အျပစ္တင္ျခင္း၊ ဆရာလုပ္ျခင္းကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ္။
plenty = အမ်ားအျပား။ အလံုအေလာက္။
puff = ေဆးလိပ္၊ ေဆးတံ ဖြာသည္။

Two years ago, my sister Susie broke both legs in a ski accident. The doctor said she never skies again, but she has plenty of backbone. She took a physical therapy and backs on ski like before.လြန္ခဲ့တဲ့ (၂) ႏွစ္က က်ေနာ့္ ညီမ Susie ႏွင္းေလွ်ာစီးၿပီး မေတာ္တဆျဖစ္လို႔ ေျခေထာက္ႏွစ္ေခ်ာင္းလံုး က်ဳိးသြားခဲ့တယ္။ ဆရာဝန္က သူမ ဘယ္ေတာ့မွ ႏွင္းေလွ်ာျပန္မစီးႏိုင္ေတာ့ဘူးလို႔ ေျပာခဲ့တယ္။ ဒါေပမဲ့ သူမက အေတာ္စိတ္ဓါတ္ ခုိင္မာတယ္။ ေလ့က်င့္ခန္းလုပ္ ကုသတဲ့အတြက္ အရင္ကအတိုင္း ျပန္ၿပီးႏွင္းေလွ်ာ စီးႏိုင္ၿပီ။

I don’t know what to do about my wife. She has an awful cough from smoking and she tries to stop for a dozen times. After a couple of weeks, she backslides and puffing away again.က်ေနာ့္ အမ်ဳိးသမီးနဲ႔ ပတ္သက္လို႔ေတာ့ ဘာမွမတတ္ႏိုင္ေတာ့ဘူး။ ေဆးလိပ္ေတြေသာက္လို႔ ေခ်ာင္းေတြ အရမ္းဆိုးေနတယ္။ ေဆးလိပ္ျဖတ္ဖုိ႔ ႀကိဳးစားခဲ့တာလည္း အႀကိမ္မ်ားစြာ ရွိေနၿပီ။ ဒါေပမဲ့ သတင္းပတ္အနည္းငယ္အၾကာမွာ သူ႔အက်င့္ဆိုးျပန္ေပၚၿပီး ေဆးလိပ္ျပန္ေသာက္တတ္တယ္။

Why don’t you pass the car front? He is going too slow. Look out! Do you see the car coming out of that side street? Oh oh better slow down the light turning red ahead. I’m getting to be a back seat driver.ေရွ ႔က ကားကို ေက်ာ္လိုက္ပါလား။ ေရွ ႔ကကားေမာင္းသူက အရမ္းေႏွးတယ္။ သတိထားအုံး ဟိုဘက္လမ္းၾကားထဲကေန ကားတစီးထြက္လာတာ ျမင္ရဲလား။ အုိ အရွိန္ေလွ်ာ့အံုး။ ေရွ ႔မွာ မီးက နီေတာ့မယ္။ ကိုယ္လည္း ေနာက္တန္းကေနေမာင္းတဲ့ ကားေမာင္းသမား ျဖစ္မွန္မသိ ျဖစ္ေနၿပီ။
